THE SHIELDFFUSER

The Shieldffuser, designed by RG Sanles Acoustics, offers an innovative solution that combines the benefits of a diffuser with an acoustic barrier. This unique design allows for a reduction of over 10 dB in sound transmission between the source and the receiver by effectively blocking, absorbing and scattering energy. The Shieldffuser significantly mitigates the sound impact on musicians, particularly within the most sensitive range of human hearing (from 1.6kHz to 8kHz).

PRACTICAL FUNCTIONALITY

The Shieldffuser serves three essential functions:

  1. Acts as an acoustic  barrier, effectively reducing sound levels from musicians positioned behind it, such as the percussion or brass section
  2. Perform as a Binary Amplitude diffuser when musicians perform while facing the shield. This feature provides subtle sound reflections back to the performers, simulating a monitoring system.
  3. When multiple shields are deployed within a room, they function as acoustic panels, aiding in the improvement of diffusion and absorption  throughout the space.

By implementing the correct room acoustic strategy in combination with the shields, musicians experience enhanced clarity in their communication. The intelligibility between band members is significantly improved, allowing them to hear each other clearly without the need to increase their volume. This not only facilitates better coordination but also prevents the musicians from straining themselves to hear their own playing.
